You can choose from one of the two contract schedules

Option 1

A traditional schedule where you choose the schedule and it does not alter from week to week.  The benefit to this option is that I will always be available on the specified days.  Structure and consistency are important to children, so this option is also good for your child’s development and temperament.  The drawback is, you would be responsible for any of your child’s missed days (vacation, sick, snow, ect.) I do not charge for my vacation or sick days.

Option 2

An “as needed” schedule.  You would let me know at your earliest convenience the schedule for the week, which may alter in times, days and frequency.  The benefit is that you are only responsible for the days in which your child attends.  The drawback is that there may be occasions where I’m not able to care for your child on a day that you needed.  I’m almost always able to reschedule appointments or plans, but there may be occasions where I’m unable to reschedule and I would not be able to care for your child.

Educational Programs

Along with tons of free exploration materials, I also utilize two programs that will help your child excel academically and socially.

Responsive Classroom

This program focuses on working together, social interaction and personal responsibility.  We begin each with a morning meeting where children talk about the day to come.  Together with the teacher and other children they read a message board and use a calender.  Children practice skills previously learned and play a working together game.  The program teaches children how to appropriately play with one another e.g. asking to share or how to join a group during play.  The program also focuses on reponsibility, e.g. helping to prepare own meals, pick up after play, ect.  It also focusses on appropiate discipline.  For example, if a child colors on the wall, they will help wash it off.

Telian Lively Letter

This program is used in several schools in the area and across the United States. The program focuses on learning the letter names along with the sounds associated with them.  Each letter is presented as a character that has a song, story and hand movement.  The visual, audio and physical stimulation associated with each letter helps children to remember the letter and the sound associated with it.  These are the building blocks of successful reading and spelling.  This program is used for all ages including toddlers through adult remedial programs.
